Luxury Without Excess
For most of history luxury did not mean abundance. It meant quality. It meant craftsmanship. It meant materials that were rare, natural and made to last for many years.
Today luxury is often confused with volume, trends and excess. The modern fashion industry produces an estimated 100 to 150 billion garments every year which is far more clothing than the global population needs. Many of these garments are worn only a few times before being discarded.
It is also estimated that over 30 percent of clothing produced each year is never sold. Unsold inventory is often destroyed, burned or sent to landfills to protect brand pricing and make room for new inventory.
Most of these garments are made from synthetic fabrics like polyester which is a plastic derived from petroleum. Polyester can take hundreds of years to decompose and as it breaks down it releases microplastics into soil and water. These microplastics have now been found in oceans, fish, drinking water and even the human body.
Luxury should not create waste.
Luxury should create longevity.
Luxury should respect materials, people and the earth.
At Prana Collection we produce in small intentional batches. Nothing is rushed and nothing is mass produced. Our fabrics are natural and biodegradable and our buttons are made from natural shell or fruit ivory. Every detail is chosen with intention.
Luxury without excess means owning fewer pieces but better ones. It means building a wardrobe slowly and intentionally. It means choosing garments that you will still love years from now.
Real luxury is not excess.
Real luxury is intention.
May the life force be with you.
With love,
Prana Collection.
